ABOUT NAAME

A group of likeminded young people from across the state involving all the districts have formed an Association namely, the Nagaland Association for Adventure, Mountaineering and Education (NAAME) in 2006 with a Theme “ Inculcate in youth Value of Nature for healthy living” . Increasingly popular activities have attracted more members over the years reached a total strength of 166 members and 738 in face book as of now. The Association (NAAME) was subsequently registered as a Society. Since then it has organized few events successfully as well as participated in certain regional and National level training and Competitions.

It has been our observation that many people are eager to visit Nagaland for its Cultural Heritage and natural beauty. And with the experience gained over the years, we are confident to be instrumental in creating awareness for Bio-diversity conservation as well as promote adventure and eco-tourism in the region, particularly Nagaland.

At present the Association is regularly organizing trekking to Dzükou Valley and Japfü Climbing Competition with a belief that, if one does not go to Nature, one cannot enjoy  beauty and realize the importance of Nature.

Adventure Tourism can be developed to Japfü peak and Dzükou valley as an extension to Kisama , Naga Heritage Village a Tourist Complex. The inaccessible Japfü range and famous Dzükou Valley rich species and medicinal herbal  can be declared and preserved as a Nature Reserve through mobilisation and community participation ,  to become a World Heritage Site for bio-diversity germ-plasm bank of flora & fauna for the entire watershed basin of Brahmaputra valley to the Bay of Bengal. The world’s Guinness Record, Tallest Rhododendron tree is found here.

With the active involvement of our Association members Kigwema Village had in principal agreed to conserve 1000ha. Of its thick Forest along  Mt. Japfü Range. Our Association is confident to bring more areas of Forest Land  to bring under bio-diversity conservation as more and more people are becoming aware the importance of Environmental issues
